Elva Ramona “Tot” Chenier Davis, 68, peacefully departed this life on Friday, July 17, 2026, at her home in Monroe.
Elva was born on Apr. 11, 1958, in Kinder, to the late Alfred and Elva (Roberts) Chenier.
Elva was a native of DeQuincy, attended Grand Avenue and graduated from DeQuincy High School in 1976. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Grambling State University in 1980.
Upon moving to Lake Charles, Elva worked in several capacities, most notably with the State of Louisiana and J.C. Penney, Co. Inc. She married Connie Davis in 2000 and later moved to Monroe.
Elva leaves to cherish her memory: one son, AlGerrik R. Chenier; one daughter, Kokesheia (Martin) Stokes; one bonus son, Alvon Davis; one granddaughter, Simone Chenier Davis; and one grandson, Z’Vaun Stokes; two sisters, Elizabeth (Calvin) Skinner and Mary Hayes; three brothers, Albert (Ann) Thomas, Preston (Doris) Chenier, and Ray (Sandra) Chenier; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Alfred Chenier Jr., Wilfred Chenier, and John Chenier; one sister, Patricia Mallet; and three nephews, Ray Chenier, Jr., Khoury Mallet, and Kylin Chenier.
Elva will be greatly missed by her family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in DeQuincy, with a Rosary at 10 a.m.; followed by a private burial and committal service.
