Sebree “Billy” Hale Jr. was born Dec. 16, 1941, and passed away Monday, June 22, 2026, at the age of 84.
He was a man of strong character, unwavering discipline, and a heart dedicated to caring for others. A proud member of the Magnolia Masonic Lodge, Billy believed in service, integrity, and lending a helping hand whenever it was needed. He was considerate, dependable, and deeply respected by those who knew him. An avid outdoorsman, he found great joy in fishing and hunting, spending countless hours enjoying nature and making memories with family and friends. His strength, kindness, and willingness to help others will be remembered and cherished by all whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his children, Scott Hale and wife Rebekah, Lee Garrison and husband James, Laura Doty, and Melissa “Missy” Adams and husband Thomas; grandchildren, Kindsey Hale, Kendra Doty, Kory Doty, Kelsey Nelson and husband Shane, Tabetha Stanley and husband Matt, Evan Moncada and husband Devin, Randi Bullard and husband Brett, and Jackson Adams; great grandchildren, Cameron, Alexa, Elijah, Indie Rose, Kaden, Faye, Ira, Amos, Winnie, and Hazel; brother, Hiram Hale and wife Gloria.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Hale; parents, Sebree and Miza Hale; siblings, Lois Guillory, Loretta Griffin, and Adaline Phillips.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, with the funeral service held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 25, at Riley Smith and Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Interment followed at Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
