Gerald Fountain

Gerald Alvis Fountain was born July 3, 1944, in DeQuincy and passed from this life on Sunday, May 31, 2026, in Starks surrounded by loving family. He was 81 years of age.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Fountain; his sons and daughters-in-laws, Gerald ‘Chad’ Fountain and wife Crystal and Darrell Fountain and wife Jessica; his six grandchildren, Dannon, Katy-Rose, Charlie, Chloe, Connor, and Charlotte; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Carmel Fountain; his sister, Joyce Lavergne Wallace; and his brothers, Hebert Fountain and Offie Fountain.

He worked out of Teamster’s Local 920 (Beaumont) & Local 988 (Houston) for 28 years. He began a second career of driving for DSI and Trimac Transportation in 1994 and retired from that job in 2012.

In addition, Gerald served as Justice of the Peace for Ward 5 in Calcasieu Parish for almost 47 years.

Visitation was held at Calvary Apostolic Church on Saturday, June 6, from 5-8 p.m.; visitation continued on Sunday, June 7, from 12 p.m., until the Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. Pastor Jeremy Shields officiated. Interment followed at Fountain Cemetery in Starks.

The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Calvary Apostolic Church and special friends Jesse and Jana Edgerton for always being there whenever needed. We also extend our deepest gratitude to the entire staff of All Saints Hospice, especially Callie East, for the compassionate care they provided during our loved one’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family would also like donations sent to the Calvary Apostolic Church in Starks or the Parkinson’s Foundation.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
