Rita Bailey Spell was born Dec. 17, 1958, and passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the age of 67. She enjoyed playing basketball, cooking, and drawing. Most of all, Rita loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Ivy Spell; children, Andy Spell, Katie Reed and husband, Brent’ton, Maggie Spell, April Spell, Mary Grace Wilbanks and husband, David; 23 grandchildren; brother, Richard Bailey; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Clint Spell; parents, Eldridge and Ollie Bailey; eight brothers; and two sisters.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m., Friday, May 22, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Visitation will continue on Saturday, May 23, from 9 a.m., until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., at Christian Life Church, 835 Fairchild St., Vinton. Pastor Don Snider will be officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
