Rev. Trace Buxton is now – officially – assistant pastor of First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. Rev. Carlton “Carley” Jackson, pastor, said Buxton has been serving in this capacity, as well as the role of youth minister for the past fourteen years, though his previous title was different.
At FUPC, church leaders are appointed, and each year the church ratifies those appointments during an annual business meeting. When it was pointed out that Buxton had not been “officially” appointed, Jackson did so before the next annual business meeting. The church overwhelmingly ratified the appointment, the FUPC of DeQuincy pastor said.
“Rev. Trace Buxton, as my assistant pastor, plays a vital role in the health and growth of FUPC of DeQuincy Church family as a whole,” Rev. Jackson said. “He and his wife Brooke support me and Sister Jackson in carrying out spiritual leadership, ensuring that the church’s mission and teachings are effectively conveyed.”
Rev. Buxton and his wife have other responsibilities as well. This allows the church to serve the congregation more comprehensively through pastoral care, counseling and outreach programs, according to Jackson.
The couple also connects with members of the community. They offer guidance and support, fostering a sense of belonging.
“They are essential in creating a balanced, caring and dynamic church environment that nurtures faith and unity,” Jackson said.
Buxton has attended the Church since he was nine years old.
“I never would have imagined my life would play out the way it has,” he said.
He said nothing short of the obedience to God has brought him this far.
“I asked God for direction, and he answered,” Buxton said. “I am honored to be a part of the history, legacy and God’s future for this church.”
Rev. Buxton is Section 4 Youth Director for the Louisiana District of the United Pentecostal Church.
He and his wife Brooke have three children, Luhkee, Suhnee and Huhnee, (pronounced Lucky, Sunny and Honey).
