Althea Bertrand was born on Mar. 15, 1952, and passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the age of 74.
She is survived by her loving husband, Collins Bertrand Sr. of 52 years; children, Jenny Bertrand, Collins Bertrand Jr., and Elizabeth Bertrand (John); sisters, Ada Chaisson, and Lori Broussard; sister and brothers in-law, Jeanette and Don Fontenot, and Perch and Henrietta Bertrand; godmother, Tina Rogers; grandchildren, Heather Roussell, Darrell Hackley, Brittany Arnold, and Johnny Roussell; great-grandchildren, Shane Diaz, Abel Rivera, and Jenesis Hackley Rivera.
She was preceded by her parents, Louis and Lethea Martin; brother, William Martin; son, Wesley Bertrand; father and mother in-law, Wesley and Eunice Bertrand; brother and sisters-in-law, Darrell Chaisson, Peewee Broussard, Shirley Bertrand, and Joyce Arceneaux; grandfather, Pete Moro; and sister, Mada Martin.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
