Avery N. Yellott “Pop Ave” was born Nov. 2, 1932, and passed away Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the age of 93.
Avery passed away leaving behind a life defined by service, faith, and devotion to those he loved. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Avery was a man who found his greatest joy at home, surrounded by family. A master craftsman, he had a remarkable ability to build and fix just about anything. He dedicated 40 years of hard work before retiring from Citgo, showing the same commitment and reliability in his career as he did in every other part of his life.
Faith was central to Avery’s life. He was a lifelong member of The Pentecostal Church, where he faithfully served for many years as a board member and shared his musical talents by playing the trumpet. His church was not just a place of worship, but a true community he cherished deeply.
Above all, Avery loved his family and his church. He will be remembered for his steady presence, kind spirit, and the simple joys he embraced-whether it was time spent with loved ones or a favorite meal from Burger King.
He is survived by his daughters, Roxie Jackson and Ava Sue Yellott; granddaughter, Amanda S. Guerrero and husband Mark; and great-granddaughters, Stella Guerrero and Luciana Guerrero.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Bonnie S. Yellott; parents, Luther and Rosa Yellott; brothers, Julius E. Yellott, Hansford L. Yellott, and Luther Yellott Jr.; son-in-law, Benny Jackson; mother-in-law, Anna Mae Royer; and father-in-law, James M. Royer.
