James Hayes, Jr. was born July 25, 1951, and passed away Sunday, Apr. 12, 2026, at the age of 74.
He is survived by his mother, Dell Francois (Jay); sisters, Carolyn Williams (Gary), and Brenda Hayes; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his father, James M. Hayes Sr.; and his sisters, Patricia Pontheaux and Donna Hayes.
The family received friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., Friday, Apr. 17, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Bro. Mike Streams officiated. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
