Coach Gary Hardwick was born Aug. 6, 1938 and passed away Wednesday, Apr. 8, 2026, at the age of 87.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pat Hardwick; children, Scott Hardwick (Dena), Greg Hardwick (Kelli), Dave Hardwick (Angie), and Paige Powers (Jay); grandchildren, William Hardwick (Tam), Rylan Hardwick, Adley Hardwick, Alden Hardwick, Lawton Hardwick, Courtney Hardwick, Kathryn Emmons (TJ), Andrew O’Connor (Sadie), Kayleigh Hardwick, Garrison Hardwick, Amber Switzer (Dusty), Brittany Michael (Clayton), Daven Hardwick (Shaea), DJ Hardwick (Holly), Parker Hardwick, Karlie Powers, Katie Powers, and Kelsie Powers; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Dale Hardwick (Sharon); along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Juanita Hardwick; sister, Sherry Ann Paris; and brother, Danny Hardwick.
The family received friends from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 5 p.m., Saturday, Apr. 11, at First Baptist Church of Deweyville, Texas. Pastor Damon Bickham officiated. Interment followed at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St. DeQuincy.
