Evelyn Pierce Bowman was born July 21, 1938, and passed away Wednesday, Apr. 8, 2026, at the age of 87.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer Johnston and husband Buddy, Johnny Bowman and wife Richelle, Janet Ashworth and husband Patrick, and Joseph Bowman and wife Tina; grandchildren, Sonny Johnston and wife Danisha, Brooke Bury and husband Chad, Lindsay Layfield and husband Daniel, Amy Bowman, Jonathan Ashworth and wife Kaitlon, Zachary Ashworth and wife Mazie, Alisha Parsons, Brittany Felice, and Josie Holley; great-grandchildren, Maci, Easton, Carter, Gracie, Ryker, Rylee, Vivian, Makayla, and Josie; and siblings, Miriam Massie, Verna Pickering, Gail Frazier, Carl Pierce Jr., Donnie Pierce and wife Linda, and Ronnie Pierce and wife Sam.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Honey” Bowman; grandchildren, Christina Sims, Tyler Sims, Christopher Ashworth, and Cody Bowman; parents, Helen and Carl Pierce Sr.; and siblings, Lila Couteter, Robert Pierce, Tommy Pierce, Roger Pierce, Kenny Pierce, and Jerry Pierce.
The family received friends from 5 – 8 p.m., Friday, Apr. 10, and continued from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., Saturday, Apr. 11, at Singer Baptist Church in Singer. Pastor Jimmy Clark, Rev. Donnis Ashworth, and Rev. Carlton Jackson Jr. officiated. Interment followed at Newlin Cemetery in Singer.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St. DeQuincy.
