Tigers walk off Leesville

Last Thursday, Feb. 26, the DeQuincy Tigers began the annual Sammy Dean Yellott Memorial Tournament against the Leesville Wampus Cats and what was a close game from the start.

The Tigers’ bats went cold for a few innings, but in the bottom of the seventh, after Leesville took the lead in the top half of the inning, DeQuincy needed a magic moment. They got just that after a botched ball, an error occurred by Leesville, would score the tying run for the Tigers. Which would leave Turner Rodriguez on third with Noah Pettifield at bat who would lay down a beautiful bunt as Rodriguez was already halfway to home plate and the Wampus Cats never realized it as the Tigers would walk off Leesville 4-3!

Levi Neal was 1-2, Jeremy Gatlin Jr. was 2-3, Khale Miller was 1-3, Ethan Faulk was 1-3, and Bryce Dyson was 1-2.

DeQuincy 4, Leesville 3
