The 4th of July is coming up quick and between the fireworks and celebrations, newly hatched chicks on our beaches need protection!
Audubon Delta will be stewarding nesting colonies and sites on July 4th, 5th, and 6th on Holly Beach, Rutherford Beach, and Grand Isle, and we need your help! Stewardship will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. all three days in two 4-hour shifts. If you have the time and inclination, we’d love if you came out and spend some time on the beach with us to help protect these nesting birds and chicks.
Let me know when you’re available and where so I can get you any other information you may need! I have shirts, koozies, and other prizes for all volunteers, so come get you some gear and enjoy the beach!
I can be reached through Facebook messenger, by email at jonathon.lueck@audubon.org or by phone at 337-377-3385.
Thanks in advance and see you on the beach!
