The LSU Tigers baseball team won their 8th National Championship this past weekend in Omaha with a 2-0 series win over Coastal Carolina. Final scores were 1-0 in game one and 5-3 in game two.
Head Coach Jay Johnson becomes the fastest coach in college baseball to win two national titles in just his first four years at the helm in Baton Rouge.
The pitching for the Tigers was outstanding as Kade Anderson went the distance in game one only giving up 3 hits and 5 walks while recording 10 strikeouts in 9 innings of work in 130 pitches.
In game two Anthony Eyanson pitched 6.1 innings and recorded 9 strikeouts, Chase Shores came in to relieve Eyanson and threw 2.2 innings and recorded 4 strikeouts.
Local Southwest Louisiana standouts Jake Brown of Sulphur and Ethan Frey of Rosepine both had great games and now can add national champions to their baseball career resumes.
