Beauregard Parish School Board administrators attended a training for a new security system that will be used at all parish schools next school year.
The School Board approved the purchase of the Opengate metal/weapons detectors, related items, installation, and training at the April board meeting. The system is controlled via an App that administrators use to select a variety of screening options.
Opengate is a wire-free screening portal of independent, self-powered pillars that are portable and do not require divestiture of items for screening. This system will facilitate a way for schools to process entrance onto school campuses and into school events more quickly and provide secure but easier access for a large number of people.
