By Major Jerry Bell, DeQuincy Police Dept. Public Affairs Officer
On Wednesday, Apr. 23, the DeQuincy Police Dept. Command Staff attended the Calcasieu Parish Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy graduation ceremony held at the Civic Center in Lake Charles. Graduating on this date was DQPD Officer Logan Jolivette, a recent hire on the DQPD.
The academy is 15 weeks long, over 500 hours of instruction, often hard and demanding. This academy produces outstanding police officers for several parishes and has an outstanding reputation in the state.
The ceremony was attended by numerous Sheriffs, Chiefs of Police, and hundreds of family members supporting their officers. One of the speakers noted that this was the largest in attendance ever.
Also attending the ceremony was Officer Jolivette’s mother, sister, aunt, and uncle. After the ceremony, all met at a local restaurant, and Officer Jolivette’s family gave him gifts for his graduation. Major Bell told Officer Jolivette that he wished him luck in his new job as a patrol officer for the DQPD.
The Bible states that “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God”. May God bless all our peacemakers.
