Tigers roll over Hicks in exhibition game

On Thursday, Apr. 17, the DeQuincy Tigers hosted the Hicks Pirates in an exhibition game which is more less a glorified scrimmage to help both teams stay loose and ready for the playoffs.

The Tigers’ bats were on fire as they would collect 12 solid hits which produced 11 runs against a very good Hicks team who’s only answer was in the 6th inning. However that’s all the Pirates could scratch across as the Tigers’ defense played lights out in the infield and the in the outfield.

South Beau & Loreauville will play in best of 3

The South Beauregard Golden Knights will host the Loreauville Tigers in a second round best of 3 playoff series with game one beginning on Friday Apr. 25, at 6 p.m. Game two will be on Saturday Apr. 26, at 12 noon. Game three, if necessary, would start approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game two.

South Beauregard comes into the Division III Non-Select bracket as the #3 seed while Loreauville comes in as the #14 seed. They had beaten Port Allen two games to none in a best of three series in the first round.

Coincidentally, this will be the third year in a row that these two teams meet up in the second round of the playoffs in Longville. So it would seem that there’s a small playoff rivalry between the two teams which means it should be a very competitive series!

Best of luck to the South Beau Knights!

The Merryville Panthers have entered the Division IV Non-Select playoffs as the #17 seed They will travel to take on the #16 seed Lake Arthur Tigers which the Panthers had recently beaten on the 14th in Merryville by a score of 5-0. Lake Arthur will have quite a bit of revenge on their mind while Merryville will look to more or less sweep Lake Arthur and advance to the second round. However it will be a very long road trip against a very tough opponent in the #1 seeded Oak Grove Tigers.

Best of luck to the Merryville Panthers!
