The Rotary Club of DeQuincy met for their regularly scheduled meeting on Mar. 6, at CrossPoint Community Church Fellowship Hall.
They welcomed Conner Bradford, CLECO Economic Development Manager as the speaker. CLECO is now celebrating their 90th Anniversary.
Members and guests attending included: Jimmy Henagan, Jerry Bell, Frank Jones, Jeffra and Doug DeViney, Margaret Brown, Wayne Neyland, Woody Daigle, Vance Perkins, Lillian Karr and Hazel Jackson.
The club will have a booth at Louisiana Railroad Days Festival, Apr. 10-12 selling raffle tickets on a chance to win two firearms to include: Glock Gen 5 Model 17 Pistol and Rugar 10/22 Rifle. The proceeds help support DeQuincy High School Scholarships and outreach to local seniors citizens projects.
Additionally, it was also a milestone for Rotary Club of DeQuincy as they celebrated their 6th year of bringing Rotary back with a new DeQuincy Club Charter after a seven year hiatus. Special guests from Rotary Club of Sulphur were past president John Wells, along with Dist 6200 Lt. Governor Elect Tina Alderson. Sulphur was the sponsoring club for the new charter in 2019. The first initial DeQuincy Rotary Club was chartered in 1939.
