By Major Jerry Bell, DQPD Public Affairs Officer
Two of DeQuincy’s finest were honored last week with a letter of commendation and appreciation. This award was presented to Officer Keith Doyle, three years; and Officer Dylan Havens, three months. The letter outlined the two officers’ achievements for arresting a subject during a burglary in progress and taking a felon off the streets before he committed further crimes.
Both officers depicted the dedication shown to the Police Dept. and the City of DeQuincy. These two activities do exemplify professionalism and real dedication to duty as DQPD officers. Major Jerry Bell commended the two officers and told them that it is comforting to know that our city has assets like them that provide protection for our citizens. The commendation letters were placed in their personnel file for future references. Officer Dylan Havens, 25, a Pentecostal boy from Fields, is new to the DQPD, has been here for three months waiting to go to the academy. When asked what his goals were. He stated that he wanted to be a U.S. Marshal. The experiences working the road will greatly assist him in this endeavor.
