Errors hurt DeQuincy
Last Thursday, the DeQuincy Tigers hosted the DeRidder Dragons at home. Although it was the Westlake tournament, Coach Blake Reed at Westlake and his staff were gracious enough to allow Coach Brady Carlson and his staff to co-host their tournament. Turner Rodriguez was outstanding on the mound pitching all 7 innings only allowing 2 hits and striking out 13 batters. However errors would plague the Tigers early on which allowed the visiting Dragons to hang around and ultimately hold off the Tigers by a score of 6-5.
Nolan Schrader went 2-3, Diron Valentine went 2-4 with an RBI, Turner Rodriguez went 1-2, Andrew Dowden went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s, Carson Rainwater went 1-3, Noah Pettifield went 1-3 with an RBI, and Grant Rainwater went 1-3.

Big 6th inning propelled DeQuincy
Last Friday, the DeQuincy Tigers co-hosted the Westlake tournament as they played the Welsh Greyhounds. The Tigers bounced back nicely from the loss to DeRidder the night before. DeQuincy would get on the board first in the bottom of the 2nd inning when catcher Andrew Dowden hit a solo blast over the wall in right center field which is the first home run of the season for the Tigers. The game was tied 3-3 until the 6th inning when the Tigers’ bats came to life with 2 outs as DeQuincy would plate 4 runs to take a comfortable lead over the Greyhounds in which Welsh never had an answer for as the Tigers came away victorious!
Nolan Schrader went 1-3 with 2 RBIs, Diron Valentine went 1-2, Turner Rodriguez went 2-4, Andrew Dowden went 2-4 with an RBI, Carson Rainwater went 1-4 with 3 RBIs, and Hayz Hext went 1-3.
