DeQuincy City Council meeting was held Monday, Feb. 10, at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall Chambers.
City Report
Mayor Riley Smith said that some of the city’s new signs have been installed. A new mower has been purchased for the city. The audit for 2023-24 has begun. Mayor Smith is well pleased with Valecia Royer for keeping the city books in order. Job well done. The squirrel hunt will take place on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Lots of activities for everyone. An event good for our community. Come out and help support this event.
Mayor Smith spoke about Mr. Doug Cox former attorney for the city and Daisy Cole former council member have passed. Mr. Amos Jones well known for serving in the community has also passed away.
Three resolutions were adopted during the during meeting. They are as follows:
Adopt a Resolution informing the Louisiana DEQ that the city will continue maintaining our wastewater treatment plant and continue required analytical analysis in accordance with current LDEQ permit, including monthly monitoring of influent CBOD.
Adopt a Resolution authorizing Mayor Smith to sign the CEA with Calcasieu Parish Police Jury for a generator grant.
Adopt a Resolution authorizing Mayor Smith to sign the completed Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire letters for Kolder, Slaven and Company LLC for FYE September 30, 2024.
Three Ordinances were introduced and a public hearing. They are as follows:
Ordinance #887 to update the culvert procedures.
Ordinance #986 to update the fees.
Ordinance #987 to add policy for use of public facility/grounds.
The City will start the condemnation process on property located at 208 Hall St. and at 111 W. Center St.
