Grace Lynn Yellott, 59, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, in a New Orleans hospital.
She was a native of DeQuincy and had been a resident of Lake Charles for over 10 years. She was employed as a Merchandiser with Unilever working in various Walmart stores. Grace also worked for many years with Hixson Funeral Homes where she assisted many families as they honored their loved one’s passing. She not only had a heart for helping others, but also for animals. Grace volunteered many hours with Hobo Hotel, fostering many cats, and often helped trap, spay/neuter, and release numerous feral cats over the last several years. She was truly an animal lover and served as an advocate for all animals. She enjoyed visiting local restaurants and giving food reviews on Facebook.
Survivors include her children, Toby Yellott and wife, Cheslie of DeQuincy, Kristi Yellott of DeQuincy, and Kelcee Yellott of Rosepine; her father, Robert Mitchell and wife, Jeana of DeQuincy; her siblings, Joe Mitchell and wife, Noelle of DeQuincy, and Danna Byrd and husband, Curtis of Sulphur; her grandchildren, Kayven Yellott, Romeigh Yellott, Kholston Perkins, Journi Perkins, Scarlett Perkins, Haddeigh Barber, Wynleigh Barber, Laikyn Folds, and Bailee Folds; her former husband and father of her children, Gregg Yellott of DeQuincy; and her beloved furbabies, Stella, Charley, Spot, and Buddy.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Katherine Davidson Mitchell; and her precious long-time furbaby, Ruby.
A Celebration of Grace’s Life will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Streams will officiate. Following services and cremation, inurnment will be in Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Thursday in the funeral home.
