On Saturday, Jan. 11, the Starks VFW Post #4759 and Aux. held a Soup Cookoff Benefit for the Auxiliary. There were 14 contestants in the cookoff. Various soups were on display.
In the Youth Division, Kynzlie Smith won 1st Place. She is the daughter of Brodie and Chelsea Smith. She is a sophomore at Starks High School.
In the Adult Division, Frank Russell won first place with a Broccoli, Cheese and Chicken Soup; Venita Ball of Vinton won second place with a Vegetable Soup, and 3rd place was won by Patricia Simien of Vinton. She also had a Vegetable Soup. Wendy Ashworth of Vinton won the People’s Choice Award with a Cabbage Soup. Prizes were awarded.
