Dorothy Fontenot

Dorothy “Dot” Hagar Fontenot was born Sept. 16, 1936, and passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, at the age of 88. Dot was a pianist and treasurer for Kernan/Faith Baptist Church. She was also a Sunday school teacher. She was very involved in the Ragley Historical Society and was over the farmers market. Dot was also a supervisor for Texas Attorney Generals Child Support Office in Beaumont, Texas. She was known as the best locate person in Texas.

She left behind her children, Kathryn “Kathy” Bradley and husband Clyde, Wade Fontenot and wife Susie, Sally Kennedy and husband Bo, and Sandra Chambers; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; AND seven great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Randall “Randy” Fontenot; grandchildren, Brandon Bradley and Kevin Bradley; great-grandson, Austin Fontenot; parents, William Albert Hagar and Beulah Adeline Hagar; sister Doris Perego; brothers R. H. Hagar, Manuel Hagar and Franklin Hagar.

The family received friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at Faith Baptist Church, 5823 LA-12, Ragley. Pastor Bill Smith and Pastor James Rivers officiated. Interment followed at Hagar Cemetery in Ragley.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
