AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF DEQUINCY THROUGH ITS MAYOR TO PURCHASE FROM JOHN RICHARD GREMILLION, SR. AND GOLDIE DARLENE GREMILLION; CLINTON SAMUEL GREMILLION A CERTAIN PARCEL OF IMMOVABLE PROPERTY INSIDE THE CITY OF DEQUINCY; AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FOR THE PROPERTY AND EXECUTION OF THE CASH SALE DEED BY THE MAYOR; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
WHEREAS, the City of DeQuincy, Louisiana (“City”) has expressed an interest in the purchase of certain immovable property that will serve to facilitate the need to install a lift station on Leblanc Street for the proper functionality of the wastewater system; and
WHEREAS, John Richard Gremillion, Sr. and Goldie Darlene Gremillion have proposed selling to City the property described as follows:
Certain immovable property situated in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, bearing Calcasieu Parish Assessor Parcel No. 00741450 more particularly described as Lot 9 of Block 7 of Edgewood Land and Logging Company Addition No. 2 to the City of DeQuincy with all improvements thereon situated.
Clinton Samuel Gremillion have proposed selling to City the property described as follows:
Certain immovable property situated in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, bearing Calcasieu Parish Assessor Parcel No. 00741469 more particularly described as Lot 10 of Block 7 of Edgewood Land and Logging Company Addition No. 2 to the City of DeQuincy with all improvements thereon situated.
Municipal address: LeBlanc Street
WHEREAS, the City Council determines that after City finds good and merchantable title free and clear of all liens and incumbrances, including special assessments, , it is in City’s best interest to execute the Cash Sale Deed constituting Exhibit A and B hereto:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the City Council of the City of DeQuincy, authorizes the City of DeQuincy, through its Mayor, to execute a Cash Sale Deed whereby the City of DeQuincy acquires from John Richard Gremillion, Sr. and Goldie Darlene Gremillion; and Clinton Samuel Gremillion the property described herein above.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the City is hereby authorized to pay to the John Richard Gremillion, Sr. and Goldie Darlene; the sum of Twelve Thousand and No/100 Dollars ($12,000.00) cash for said property and Clinton Samuel Gremillion the sum of Twelve Thousand and No/100 Dollars ($12,000.00) cash for said property with a total of twenty four thousand($24,OOO) for both said property and that the Mayor of the City of DeQuincy be and he is hereby authorized to execute the said Cash Sale Deed and any other documents necessary to complete the sale on behalf of the City of DeQuincy.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that all acts of the Mayor and the administration in furtherance hereto, be and the same are hereby, ratified, confirmed and approved.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this is an Emergency Ordinance due to the fact that the installation of a new lift station on LeBlanc Street will serve to facilitate the proper functionality of the wastewater system.
Said Ordinance having been introduced on the 11th day of November, 2024, notice of Public Hearing having been published on the 4th day of December, 2024, said Public Hearing having been held on the 9th day of December, 2024 with the title having been read and Ordinance considered, on motion by Margaret Brown seconded by Cameron Smith to adopt the Ordinance. A record vote was taken, and the following result was had:

This Ordinance was declared duly adopted this 9th day of December, 2024 and will be effective immediately.
