Day named DES Student of the Year

Hallie Grace Day, a 5th grade student at DeQuincy Elementary School, has been named the 2024-2025 Student of the Year.

She is the daughter of Paul and Britney Day and sister to older brothers, Simon and Hadley.

Day has maintained a 4.0 grade point average and has qualified for Honor/Banner Roll, Outstanding Conduct, Student of the Month, Positive Office Referrals and numerous other recognitions throughout her elementary years. Students of exemplary characteristics are selected for Spanish and the DES Honor Choir which she has qualified for both her 4th and 5th grade years.

Day is also very involved within her community, which includes: DCA Cheer and Tumbling, Foul Reporter for High School Football Officials, food drives, Angel Tree Sponsor, and she has volunteered numerously for a local insurance company. She is also an active member of The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy.

The Elementary School Student of the Year Awards Program is designed to recognize outstanding elementary students throughout the parish, region, and state. These students have demonstrated excellent academic achievement, leadership ability, and citizenship. Day has shown all these qualities and so many more.
