On Sunday, Sept. 8, Senator Mike Reese and Representative Dewith Carrier recognized the dedication and commitment to the citizens and community of Ragley/Longville by presenting former Fire Chief Wayne Baggett a commendation from the State of Louisiana Senate for 37 years of service with Beauregard Parish Fire District 2.
Baggett began volunteering at the age of 16 and has worked tirelessly to serve the community until recently. Heather Baggett was also recognized for service of 23 years to the community.
He worked with neighboring departments to establish working relationships that proved instrumental when responding to the wildfires most of our areas experienced last year. Throughout his career serving the community, Chief Baggett proved steadfast in leadership to many emergencies that affected the community. Those emergencies included response to oil well explosions, fires, vehicle crashes, and the tornado that damaged many homes and the fire station in the Meadow Village area.
Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One looks forward to working with Chief Baggett in the future.
