The DeQuincy Tigers had an good showing in last Thursday’s scrimmage against the East Chambers Buccaneers. The Tigers’ JV and Bucs’ JV ran a 12 play/12 play format which even though no score was truly kept the JV Tigers came out on top 12-6.
In varsity action there was also a 12 play/12 play untimed format that saw both squads play to a 12-12 tie.
Afterwards there was a 2-quarter live action session which turned out to be a defensive battle for both squads. Ultimately the Bucs managed to kick a field goal in the first half of the live quarter action and that would be the final score with East Chambers beating DeQuincy 3-0.
Offensively the Tigers moved the ball on the ground well and the passing was also exceptionally well.
All together it was a great pre season contest for DeQuincy against a quality opponent from Texas and we wish coach Russ Sutherland and his ECHS Bucs the best of luck on their season across the Sabine River.
The Tigers will now turn their focus to the Sulphur Jamboree this Thursday, Aug. 29.
