On Sunday, Aug. 25, at 7:03 p.m., Ward 6 Fire Dept. responded as automatic aid with DeQuincy Volunteer Fire Dept. to a reported commercial building fire in the 900 block of East Fourth St.
Upon arrival of the first unit, smoke was observed coming from the rear door of the restaurant building. Smoke was also observed pushing from the area along the roof line on the rear of the building.
Firefighters utilized thermal imaging cameras to detect heat in the wall and extending to the roof of the building. Crews removed the interior rear wall and foam insulation to discover fire burning in the wall frame and in the void spaces between the outer wall and brick. The fire was extinguished with no injuries reported to the business staff or firefighters.
Houston River Fire Dept. was requested to respond with a ladder truck and rehab truck to assist on this scene.
Cleco also responded to secure the electrical service.
Crews did an amazing job to limit damage to the office and roof area above the office.
