At 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, Mayor Riley Smith, Chief Annajo Haynes, and Major Jerry Bell attended a meeting with the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney, Steven C. Dwight.
Dwight brought to the meeting his First Assistant DA Jacob Johnson and his Liaison Officer Van Richmond.
Discussions were made about how the DA’s Office and the Police Department could assist each other in the Criminal Justice System. Dwight offered the full support of the DA’s Office to the City of DeQuincy.
Major Bell briefed the DA on several cases that were ongoing. The meeting lasted about one hour, and it was very productive. All the DeQuincy participants thanked Mr. Dwight for his support and assistance to the Police Dept. The meeting ended all in accord.
