Rita Joyce Pharris Sparks was born July 16, 1945, and passed away Saturday, Apr. 27, 2024, at the age of 78. She was a faithful member of The Pentecostal Church and was involved in the ladies prayer group; she loved her family and enjoyed traveling. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and a friend to many.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Breaux and wife, Ruth, Steven Breaux and wife, Sherri, and Janet Hyatt; grandchildren, Brianne Perkins, Ryan Breaux, Janie Hyatt and fiance, Cody Jones, Teryl Pickering and wife, Jade, and Tiffany Breaux; great-grandchildren, Kallie Hyatt, Harper Pickering, Levi Burge, Beaux Rodeghero, Holden Pickering, Charlee Burge and Landon LeBrun; brother, Rodney Pharris and wife, Kathy; and family friend, Valerie Parker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Charlie” Sparks; parents, Ocie “Dude” and Hazel Pharris; and brothers, Curtis Pharris and Johnnie Pharris.
The family received friends 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, Apr. 29, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Apr. 30, at The Pentecostal Church. Rev. Wayne Neyland and Rev. Carlton Jackson, Jr. officiated. Interment followed at Masonic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Pentecostal Church Building Fund.
