DeQuincy baseball report

Tigers hold off Vinton’s Late Rally

The Tigers hosted rival Vinton on Senior night this past Thursday. The Lions almost spoiled the party thanks to some DeQuincy miscues. Fortunately, the Tigers defense held strong and hung on to a 7-5 victory!

Carson Rainwater, Diron Valentine, and Turner Rodriguez all had a hand in the pitching duties and tallied a combined 10 strikeouts!

Rainwater went 2-2 at the plate, Rodriguez went 2-4 with an RBI, Andrew Dowden went 1-4 with 2 RBIs, Nolan Schrader went 1-3 with an RBI, Quentin Pharris went 1-4, Valentine went 1-2, and Hayz Hext went 2-3 with 2 RBIs.

We want to thank our two Senior baseball players, Quentin Pharris, and Shiloh Cotlong, for their hard work, blood, sweat, and tears that they’ve put in to the program and we hope to see them go out on top as state champions!

Tigers Rout Grand Lake in Run Rule Fashion

The Tigers played some of their best baseball all year long this past Friday which is extremely important as the playoffs are quickly approaching.

DeQuincy clobbered the baseball with 10 hits and were aggressive with the base running which also propelled them to victory.

Turner Rodriguez pitched an outstanding game recording 8 strikeouts!

Carson Rainwater went 1-3 with 2 RBIs, Rodriguez went 1-2 with 2 RBIs, Andrew Dowden went 2-3 with an RBI, Nolan Schrader went 1-3 with an RBI, Quentin Pharris went 0-1 but scored an RBI, Diron Valentine went 3-4 with an RBI, Rahley Royer went 0-2 but scored 2 RBIs, Hayz Hext went 1-2, and Shiloh Cotlong went 1-1.

DeQuincy finishes district play with an 8-2 record and district runner up. Although the Tigers split with Notre Dame, the Tigers had one more district loss than the Pios which gave Notre Dame the outright district title. The Tigers have much bigger and better plans and some unfinished business in the playoffs and the state tournament.

The baseball brackets will be released Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday evening (after press time). It appears that DeQuincy has earned a first round bye which perhaps may benefit them as they could use that time off to get some practices in and rest their pitchers.

Tigers get shutout by Sam Houston

The DeQuincy Tigers played their final regular season game last night in Moss Bluff against the Class 5A Sam Houston Broncos. DeQuincy hung tough for awhile but the Broncos were just too much for the 2A Tigers.

Despite the loss DeQuincy gained big power points for playing up in class.

Carson Rainwater went 1-2, Rahley Royer went 1-2, and Hayz Hext went 2-2.

Tigers to Play Exhibition Game Friday

The DeQuincy Tigers have earned a first round bye in the Division 4 Non-Select Baseball Playoffs. Coach Brady Carlson and his staff plan to keep the boys in a rhythm as they will be playing an exhibition game at 4:30 p.m. this Friday at Hicks.

Hicks is a Class B school in eastern Vernon Parish and they also have earned a first round bye in their respective bracket.

This is the second year that the LHSAA has allowed teams who receive a first round bye a chance to play an exhibition game that will not count on record nor will it affect any power rankings. Geaux Tigers!
