DeQuincy out hits Vinton
Last Tuesday the Tigers made the trip to take on rival Vinton in a District 5-2A matchup with power points and a top 10 ranking on the line. Vinton was ranked one spot above DeQuincy in the Division 4 Non Select Power Rankings prior to the contest so a wins for the Tigers was a big must.
The Lions got out to early 2-0 lead thanks to a handful of walks and couple of Lions hit by pitch.
Fortunately the Tigers shut down the Lions and never allowed another run playing great defense while adding runs on the board in the 3rd, 6th, and finally 4 more in top of the 7th to take down the Lions 6-2.
Carson Rainwater recorded 7 strikeouts and only gave up 1 hit.
Nolan Schrader went 2-4 with an RBI, Quentin Pharris went 2-3 with an RBI, Turner Rodriguez went 2-3 with 2 RBIs, Rainwater went 1-4, Andrew Dowden went 1-3, Rahley Royer went 1-4, and Hayz Hext went 1-3.

DeQuincy falls to Notre Dame
Last Thursday the Tigers hosted the Notre Dame Pioneers in district play. It was a very competitive game all 7 innings. Unfortunately the Tigers were on the losing end of this one as they only had 4 hits the whole game.
The Pios got on the board early in the 1st inning 2-0. The Tigers battled back forcing an error on Notre Dame in the bottom of the 3rd that put the Tigers on the board making it 3-1 Pios.
Notre Dame would add one more run in the top of the 5th before the Tigers’ bats woke up in the bottom of the 6th scoring a run and making things interesting in the bottom of the 7th with 1 out and runners on 1st and 2nd. Unfortunately the Pios infield and outfield caught two pop ups to end the Tigers’ rally and escaped DeQuincy with a 4-2 win.
Turner Rodriguez and Nolan Schrader both pitched and both recorded 3 strikeouts each.
Quentin Pharris went 1-3 with an RBI, Schrader went 1-3, Andrew Dowden went 1-4, Diron Valentine and went 1-3.
