Tigers upset Notre Dame on the road
The DeQuincy Tigers began district play last Tuesday on the road with a heavy test against the Notre Dame Pioneers of Crowley. The game was scoreless up until the 4th inning with 2 on and 2 outs Hayz Hext delivered a hit to left field that scored a run to make it 1-0 DeQuincy. Although the Pios took a 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the inning, the Tigers would have a huge answer in the top of the 5th scoring 6 more runs and taking control of the game for good!
Carson Rainwater went 1-3 at the plate, Andrew Dowden went 1-3 with an RBI, Turner Rodriguez went 1-3 with 2 RBIs, Rahley Royer went 1-4, Quentin Pharris went 1-3, Hayz Hext went 1-3 with an RBI, and Reese Duhon went 1-2 with an RBI.
Diron Valentine pitched all 7 innings; recorded 5 strikeouts only giving up 2 runs.
The Tigers and Pios will face each other again on Thursday Mar. 28, at 5 p.m. in DeQuincy!

DeQuincy makes quick work of Lake Arthur
The Tigers second district game last Wednesday, at home, went as well as expected as Lake Arthur never really had an answer for DeQuincy.
It didn’t take DeQuincy long to get going as lead off Carson Rainwater hit one to right field and earned a stand up double to get things started off right.
Rainwater also pitched all 5 innings of the run-ruled shortened game recording 8 strikeouts and only giving up 3 hits. He also led the hitting on the evening going 4-4 with two RBIs, Turner Rodriguez went 3-3 with two RBIs, Andrew Dowden went 2-4 with two RBIs, Diron Valentine went 1-4 with an RBI, Gunner Grove went 1-1 with an RBI, Rahley Royer went 1-1 with two RBIs, Hayz Hext went 1-3 with an RBI, and Quentin Pharris went 1-3.
DeQuincy and Lake Arthur will play each other again on Tuesday Apr. 2, at 6 p.m. in Lake Arthur.

DeQuincy roars past Singer 17-3
DeQuincy and Singer faced off last Thursday in the South Beauregard tournament. It didn’t take long for the Tigers to impose their will on the Hornets as DeQuincy scored 8 runs in the 1st inning then 6 more in the 3rd holding Singer scoreless until the 4th inning.
Leading the hitting for the Tigers were Andrew Dowden going 2-4 with an RBI, Rahley Royer went 1-3 with 3 RBIs, Diron Valentine went 1-2 with an RBI, Lannin Duraso went 1-2 with an RBI, Quentin Pharris went 1-3 with an RBI, Hayz Hext went 1-3 with an RBI, Rowdy Griffin went 1-3 with an RBI, Shiloh Cotlong went 1-2, and Turner Rodriguez went 1-2.
Quentin Pharris, Rahley Royer, and Lannin Duraso all pitched for the Tigers recording a combined 3 strikeouts, and only giving up 1 hit.

Tigers held off a late rally by the Cardinals
On Saturday DeQuincy and Lacassine faced off in the South Beauregard tournament.
The Class B Cardinals proved to be a worthy opponent. They are very well coached led by former Cincinnati Reds shortstop and Kinder standout Blake Trahan. But the Tigers who are also very well coached were the victorious ones at the end of day as they scored 5 runs in 2nd inning and held the Cards scoreless until the 6th inning.
Both Turner Rodriguez and Diron Valentine were fantastic on the mound with Rodriguez recording 9 strikeouts and Valentine recording 5.
Andrew Dowden led the hitting going 2-4 with 2 RBIs, Carson Rainwater went 2-4, Nolan Schrader who is now LHSAA eligible went 1-2 with 2 RBIs, Rahley Royer went 1-4, and Diron Valentine went 1-2.
Both DeQuincy and Lacassine are scheduled to play each other again on Monday Apr. 8th at 5:30 p.m. in Jennings.
