DeQuincy seniors to participate in SWLA District Senior Games

Calcasieu Council on Aging has announced that the Southwest Louisiana District Senior Games are now under CCOA administration, which this year will be the second year.

The 30th Annual Southwest Louisiana District Senior Games will be held Mar. 15-23. The Opening ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. on Friday, Mar. 15, at the McNeese State University, Recreational Complex, located at 4150 Ieyoub Family Dr., Lake Charles.

DeQuincy Seniors will once again participate with an 11-person team playing Bean Bag Baseball. Sponsoring the Seniors this year is Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home.

This year’s games include a variety of events such as backyard bait casting, bean bag baseball, shuffleboard, washer pitch, billiards, bolo golf, bowling, putt-putt, dominoes, horseshoes, accuracy throws, swimming, and newly added this year pickle ball, and spelling.

The games are for seniors aged 50 and older who would like to participate in a variety of athletic, recreational, and social activities. The games allow seniors to meet new people, try new events, continue to compete in competitive but friendly sporting events as well as keeping them active.

Registration is open; the deadline for registration is Feb 29; please get your registration forms and fees turned into Rosalind Berry, they can be mailed in or brought into the office.
