Swift to speak at Chamber banquet

George Swift, founding President and CEO of the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance, based in Lake Charles, will be the speaker at the Chamber of Commerce Banquet on Thursday, Feb. 29.

Formed in 2006, this organization combines the Chamber Southwest and The Alliance Foundation, the economic development organization for the region. The Alliance serves the five parishes of Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis.

Swift has over forty years of experience in sales, marketing, and management in the radio broadcasting business and is involved in many community organizations.

Under Swift’s direction, The Alliance has been recognized four times in recent years as a Top 10 Economic Development Group in the nation by Site Selection magazine. The Chamber SWLA has attained Five Star Accreditation, the highest possible rating.

Swift was awarded a honorary degree, Doctor of Humane Letters, by McNeese in 2016 for his work in regional economic development and catalyst for the establishment of the SEED Center.

Originally from Selma, Ala., Swift and his family moved to Lake Charles in 1987 and he was in the radio broadcasting business until moved into economic development after serving on various industrial boards and the Chamber.

The Banquet is set for 7 p.m. at the First United Pentecostal’s T. D. Cardwell Center Tickets are $30 and may be purchased at DeQuincy City Hall.
