Jessie Michael Richard, 46, of Lake Charles, died Wednesday Dec. 27, 2023 in Hayes from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was a longtime resident of the Lake Area, having worked as a corrections officer for both the Cameron and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office for the past twenty years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Layne Emerson Richard; grandparents, Ronald “Casey” and Thelma Cole Richard; Eugene Richard; and great-grandmother, Vernice “Mokey” Cole.
He is survived by his daughter, Adlie Grace Richard of Lake Arthur; mother, Susan Richard of Ragley; grandmother, Carolyn Evans Richard of Moss Bluff; sister, Leslie Ashworth of Ragley; and mother of his child, Shelly LeBleu Benson.
A Celebration service was held Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles led by Pastor Jared Pugh. Burial, with Sheriff’s Office Honors, was alongside his beloved grandparents at Creel Cemetery in Reeves.
