Carol May

Carol Holman May died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2023. She was born in Oberlin and lived in Elton and Kinder.

She was Salutatorian of the Kinder graduating class of 1951. She later entered McNeese State University majoring in Medical Technology.. After finishing that course, she went on to study Science and taught grade school to 2nd graders for two years in Kinder.

After college, she worked in the Lab at the first Lake Charles Charity Hospital on Kirkman St for two years.

She helped in the family business at Pelican Cigar in Lake Charles for 15 years.

She was President of Delta Alpha Delta Sorority for one year. She was a member of the Woman’s Alter Society and Lydians Church Society. She became a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven in 1968 and remained a member for over 60 years.

In 2020, they moved back to Lake Charles. She moved back to Humble, Texas in August 2022.

She is survived by her son, Craig Michael May and wife Kimberly of New Caney, Texas; daughters, Julie Kristen May Broussard and wife Susan Clark of Longville, and Christina Michele May Harvey and husband Jason of Humble, Texas; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gayle Holman Hawkins.

Funeral service was held at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles on Saturday Jan. 6. Monsignor James Gaddy officiated with interment services following at Consolata Cemetery.
