Leonard Nelson

Leonard Wayne “DJ Todd” Nelson took his angel wings and peacefully succumbed to Renal Failure after 24 years on Dialysis. Leonard slipped away surrounded by his doctors and friends at St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023 at high noon. Leonard received Christ at an early age, and was baptized in his faith in God. Leonard attended Nicholls State University after high school and relocated to Oklahoma City, Okla, where he was employed at American Airlines and Tinker Air Force Base.

He leaves to mourn his parents, Charles and Peggy Jackson; three sisters, Elaine Sanford, Melody Jackson, and Karen Jackson; four nephews, Brandon Nelson, Denzel Jackson, Brennan Nelson, and Diantae’, Jackson; two nieces, Brittany Flippen (Maurice Sr.) and Khaelyn Jackson; two great nephews. Maurice, Jr. and Mason Flippen; and the Jones Family, Kersandra “Sonie” McClue, Rodrick Jones, and Leslie Jones.

A Celebration in the Park will be held on June 7, 2024, at 12 noon on Leonard’s 65th birthday in Avondale, where he was the 1st President of K.A.W.K Booster Club.

Cremation was entrusted to Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
