DeQuincy Middle Teacher, Student of Year named

Teacher of the Year: Neah Neal

Neah Neal is DeQuincy Middle School’s Teacher of the Year where she currently teaches sixth grade social studies.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Family and Child Studies from McNeese State University in 2014 and obtained her teaching certificate from the Louisiana Department of Education.

She believes in creating a collaborative classroom environment where students are taught to think and reason with others. Neal hopes to instill a sense of patriotism, love of learning, and personal accountability into each of her students.

She is a lifelong resident of DeQuincy. She is married to Josh Neal and together they have four children: Levi, Liam, Lawt and Lila.

Student of the Year: Hadley Day

DeQuincy Middle School has named 8th grader Hadley Day as the 2023-24 Student of the Year.

He is the son of Paul and Britney Day. He currently has a 4.0 GPA and is the president of Student Council. He is a three-year member of BETA club, a member of the Junior National Honor Society, FCA, Tech team, football team and basketball team.

Outside of school Day plays baseball for the Luccini organization where he serves as catcher for the 13U team. His favorite subject is social studies and after high school he plans to attend college and earn a degree in Biology, after earning his bachelor’s degree, he wants to attend LSU School of Medicine and specialize in Orthopedic Medicine.
