Shirley Ann “DuDu” Rigmaiden Gillis was born July 8, 1936 and passed away Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023 at the age of 87. She married the love of her life on Dec. 30, 1953. She spent her life loving him, their children, her grandchildren, and a host of others. Above all else, her love for the Lord and His word and her faithfulness to His house are the things her family will cherish the most.
She is survived by her children, Nelle Gillis Landry and husband Timothy and Garland Gillis and wife Marlene; grandchildren, Jeremy Landry and children, Jude and Bria; Jared Landry and wife Stephanie and children, Paisley and Mason; Meghann Landry; Morgan Gillis Cornner and husband Jarren; and sister, Betty Berry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Mason Gillis; and parents, Lloyd and Ethel Rigmaiden.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6. Funeral service began at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Pastor Jared Pugh and Rev. A. D. Spears officiated. Interment followed at Rigmaiden Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
