Tyler Paul Martinez was born June 20, 1991, and passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023, at the age of 32. Tyler was a graduate of Starks High School and Sowela Technical Community College. Tyler was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, mud riding, kayaking, hiking, and horseback riding. Leather work and playing guitar were his past times and gifts. Tyler loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his father, Jason Martinez and Kirsten; mother, Sherrie Martinez and David; siblings, Caleb Martinez, Jaylin Martinez and fiance, Lane Gillis; and girlfriend, Kilon Gillis; paternal grandparents, Marvin and Jean Martinez; aunts and uncles, Kimberly and Brandon Wood, and Tammie and Danny Daley; and cousins, Mikayla Wood and Luke Wood.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Susan Pierce; great-grandparents, J. D. and Verna Mae McDonald and William and Margaret Martinez.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Visitation continued from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, at Gambrell Baptist Church, 246 Gambrell Church Rd, Starks. Pastor Doug Bray officiated. Interment followed at Fountain Cemetery in Starks.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
