Murphy Frazier

Murphy C. Frazier was born Sept. 4, 1942 and passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2023 at the age of 81. He was a faithful member of Hargrove Pentecostal Church and retired from Local Operators Engineers 406. Murphy enjoyed fishing, collecting antiques, and operating equipment. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Velma Frazier; children, Elvis Thompson, Liz Duos and husband, Brian, Clint Frazier and wife, Debra, Murphy “Pete” Frazier and wife, Tammy, George Frazier and wife, Angela, and Kayla Frazier; 13 grandchildren along with Cade and Raynah; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Beckworth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandchild, Kasey Frazier; parents, Riley and Candace Frazier; brother, George “Boshie” Frazier; and sister, Nellie Thompson.

The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Visitation continued from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Hargrove Pentecostal Church, 1079 Hwy 389, DeQuincy. Pastor Anthony Kennon, Rev. David Kennon, and Rev. Carlton Jackson, Jr. officiated. Interment followed at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
