DeQuincy drops homecoming game to Welsh

The DeQuincy Tigers welcomed the alumni back home on this homecoming night as they took on the Welsh Greyhounds. In what was an entertaining game and much closer than the final score indicated. Welsh took the 22-0 win on the night.

Wyatt LaVergne was the workhorse for the Tigers on the ground as he gained 148 yards on 27 Carries. Shiloh Cotlong added 16 to the rushing total while DaCouris Griffin added 9.

On the passing side Carson Rainwater was 7 for 15 gaining 55 yards with no interceptions.

Receiving leaders for the Tigers were Quentin Pharris with five catches for 33 yards while Clifford Joyce had one catch for 12 yards and Koby Pool had one catch also for 10 yards.

Defensively DaCouris Griffin had a huge night garnering 14 tackles. MJ Clark and Wyatt LaVergne each had five tackles. Mitchell Pharris added four tackles on the night.

Lindsey Joyce picked up an interception for the Tigers.

Next up for the Tigers will be a very tough test against Notre Dame a private school out of Crowley. The game will be held Oct. 19 which is a Thursday night in Crowley.
