DeQuincy drops game against St. Mary’s

On Thursday night in Historic Natchitoches at the University of Northwestern’s field the DeQuincy Tigers and St. Mary’s Tigers met for what turned out to be a good football game. DeQuincy played better on the night in all aspects except the final score as St. Mary’s took the victory 21-12.

DeQuincy led the night in rushing 160 yards to St. Mary’s 30. DeQuincy also led the passing with 129 yards to St. Mary’s 110.

DeQuincy was once again plagued by the turnover bug having committed 3 interceptions.

St Mary’s got off to a quick 14-0 first quarter lead before DeQuincy’s Wyatt LeVergne carried the ball into the endzone on a 3-yard touchdown. The PAT was no good. Halftime score was 14-6 in favor of St. Mary.

St. Mary added a 3rd quarter touchdown before DeQuincy closed out the scoring on a Wyatt LeVergne touchdown the final score of the night to raise the score to 21-12.

Wyatt LeVergne had a big night rushing for the Tigers as he had 120 yards on 27 carries as he got the 2 touchdowns rushing. Nigile Ceaser added a strong 55 yards rushing to the the DeQuincy total.

Carson Rainwater was 10 for 25 with 129 yards passing to go along with the 3 interceptions.

Quentin Pharris was the leading receiver with 5 catches for 72 yards. Diron Valentin added 3 catches for 20 yards while DaCorius Griffin had 1 big catch for 39 yards.

Defensively, Wyatt LeVergne had 8 total tackles and 1/2 a sack. 2 of those tackles for a loss. MJ Clark had 2 quarterback sacks to go along with his 6 tackles. Hayz Hext had 5 tackles and Cameron Joyce had 1 quarterback sack to go along with his 4 tackles.

DeQuincy will strap ‘em this week with another Thursday night game against an old district rival, Rosepine.

The Eagles will bring the action to DeQuincy Tigers Stadium Thursday night at 7. Come out and support the team as they go for the win against Rosepine.
