Selest V. Kendall was born June 25, 1924, and passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at the age of 99.
She is survived by her children, Lois Holley, Judy Bennett, James Kendall and wife, Gayle, Joan Hunt, George Winston and wife, Cassey, and Jerry Lee Kendall; 17 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 51 great-great-grandchildren; nine great-great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Vera Gipson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Kendall; children, Mary Lee Kendall, and J. T. Kendall and wife, Janice; great-grandsons, Rylee King and Tyler Elston; great-great-great-grandson, Corey Williamson; parents, John Pierre Vige’ and Alzora Pitre Vige’; brothers, Herman Vige’, George Vige’, Frank Vige’, and John Vige’, Jr.; and sisters, Gladys Berry, Leona Marcantel, Stella Ortego and Katie Dunham.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Visitation continued from 1-2 p.m. with the funeral service starting at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, at The Pentecostal Church, DeQuincy. Rev. Wayne Neyland will officiate. Interment will follow at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
