Knights best Tigers 27-6

In the annual matchup between the Tigers and Knights and before a homecoming crown, the night belonged to the Knights as they took the 27-6 victory.

South Beauregard rushed for 190 yards and added 131 through the air only losing 1 fumble to trump the Tigers who managed 136 yards total offense but committed 5 turnovers, two through the air and three lost fumbles.

South Beauregard’s quarterback Walker Langton accounted for all 131 passing yards for the Knights. His leading receiver was Bryce Deason with 71 yards and Xavier Fontenot with 43 yards.

DeQuincy’s signal caller, Carson Rainwater was 6 for 16 for 31 yards and had the two interceptions. MJ Clark had 2 catches for 24 yards while Quentin Pharris had 4 catches for 19 yards.

Leading Rusher in the game for the Tigers was Wyatt LeVergne who had 94 yards on 15 rushes.

Leading South Beauregard was Clayton Folks who carried the ball 15 times for 107 yards. Cooper Coke added 26 yards on six carries.

Defensively South Beauregard had 2 players pick up quarterback sacks. They were Bryson Mears and Dawson Barrow.

Leading tacklers for DeQuincy were MJ Clark (7), Nigel Ceaser (7), Wyatt LeVergne (7) and Kheidren LeDay (6)

Leading South Beauregard were Bryson Mears (9), Mason Derouen (8), and Bryce Deason and Josh Smith both with 7 tackles each.

South Beauregard got the scoring started in the first quarter when Clayton Folks took it in from six yards out to put the Knights up 7-0 after the Luke Gisclair PAT was successful.

DeQuincy scored next on a 2 yard pass from Carson Rainwater to Quentin Pharris for 2 yards. The PAT was unsuccessful.

After a couple touchdown passes from Walker Langton in the second quarter to Bryce Deason (70 yards) and Xavier Fontenot (43 yards), the Knights took a 21-6 halftime lead.

In the third quarter South Beauregard added a Kade Jackson 2 yard touchdown to round out the scoring on the evening. Giving the Knights the 27-6 hard fought victory.

Up next for the Tigers in a road game on Thursday night at 1A St. Mary Tigers. St. Mary’s plays their home games at Northwestern State University’s campus in Natchitoches.

Game time will be 7 p.m.
