On Saturday, July 29, several events are planned at the Mueller Knights of Columbus Hall, 210 Kenneth St., to help defray medical treatment-related expenses for Sondra Stark.
An “Anything Over Rice” cookoff will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The cost to enter a two-person team is $30 for the first dish. A second dish may be entered by a team for $15.
A dinner and silent auction will begin at 6 p.m. Entry and meal is $20 per person. The cost of entry without a meal is $10. A live auction will follow immediately after the dinner.
Stark, a lifelong resident of and longtime business owner in DeQuincy, was recently diagnosed with cancer. Stark’s influence on the DeQuincy community over the past 60 years is undeniable, with her teaching multiple generations of area children dance, gymnastics, sportsmanship, discipline, and life lessons. All proceeds from the benefit will help defray costs associated with ongoing medical and travel expenses.
