Ray Olivarez, Jr.

Ray Olivarez, Jr. was born Nov. 30, 1955, and passed away Thursday, Apr. 20, 2023, at the age of 67.

Ray Olivarez Jr. had the most tender heart and was easily moved to tears when he saw his family or friends. The love he had for his family was unmatched and he will be greatly missed. If you are looking for a quiet place to kick your boots up, he would have recommended Snyder, Texas. This is where he raised his chickens, goats, and any stray dog that would follow him home. His home was always open and the food was fresh from his garden. If he had a drink in his hand, it was usually a Cherry Limeade from Sonic, his favorite drink, as he drove down the dirt roads of Texas with music playing softly in the background. His memory will live on in the family members that he loved so well.

He is survived by his mother, Dora Alvarez and husband, Felix; siblings, Margie Obregon and husband, Joe, Biatris Rizvi, Henry Olivarez and wife, Sarah, Irma Haygood and husband, Jeffrey, Rachel Sandoval and husband, Ruben, Reynaldo Olivarez and wife, Yessina, and Manuel Alvarez and wife, Susan; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Olivarez, Sr.; and brother, Pete Olivarez.

The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Apr. 26, at Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth Street, DeQuincy.
