Ronald E. Bauer, 73, was born Mar. 15, 1950, and passed away Saturday, Apr. 15, 2023, of cancer. He enjoyed plants, animals, arts and crafts, and all things outdoors. He also enjoyed catering and decorating cakes as a hobby. Ronald never met a stranger, and he loved his family more than anything.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Emma; children, Bridget Bertrand and David Bauer and wife, Diane; grandchildren, Kevin Bertrand, Rebecca Bertrand, Matthew Bauer, Justin Bauer, and Bradley Bauer; brothers, Dr. Darryl Bauer and Harryl Bauer; and his furbabies and grandpups.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William E. Bauer and Mildred Siem Bauer; and brothers, Billy Edwin Bauer and wife, Peggy, and Dr. Gary Bauer.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 6 p.m., Monday, Apr. 17, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home. Visitation continued from 9-10 a.m., Tuesday, Apr. 18, 2023, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Apr. 18, at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church, located at 203 S. Grand Ave., DeQuincy. Father Luis Tigga, H.G.N. officiated. Interment followed at Royer Cemetery in Sulphur.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
