Rita Vars

Rita Joyce Vars, 78, of Mountain Home, Arkansas (formerly of DeQuincy) passed away on Wednesday, Apr. 12, 2023 at her residence. Rita resided in Mountain Home with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson: Kari, Jeff, and B.J. Clark.

She was born to her late parents, Mid and Vernice Marcantel on Mar. 10, 1945 in DeQuincy. She enjoyed loving on her puppy dog, Khloe Gail, which was her world! Rita also loved spending time with her family and cooking (which she was the best at). She liked watching church programs, American Idol, and Fox News. Rita was always taking care of everyone and she was truly the best wife, mom and Nana, Nurse, cook, and housekeeper. She was it all!

She is survived by her three daughters, Kari Clark (Jeff) of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Kimberly Dyson of Seabrook, Texas, and Kristina Buxton (Johnnie) of DeQuincy; four grandchildren, Brandi Courville (Justin) of Sulphur, Brittney Deal (Cody) of DeQuincy, Bryan Dyson (Courtney) of Sulphur, and Billy (B.J.) Clark of Mountain Home, Arkansas; eight great-grandchildren, Maci Morgan, Kaitlyn Morgan, Avery Courville, Kale Deal, Kanin Deal, Kenner Deal, Kam Deal, and Layla Dyson; one great-great-grandchild on the way; adopted daughter by love, Angee Huges of Fort Polk; and her puppy dog, Khloe Gail.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Jean Vars; her parents; son, Kevin Vars; along with her son-in-law, Hardy Dyson.

A Celebration of Rita’s life was held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy, on Tuesday, Apr. 18, at 2 p.m., with Bro. Carlton Burnett officiating. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Tuesday, beginning at 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial followed at Masonic Cemetery.

Services entrusted to Jordan and Amanda Mothershed of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
